COBWEB/EDGE OF THE CITY

Mint cd. Released by Film Score Monthly in 2003. Contains the music from two of the most important scores not only of Leonard Rosenman's career but in the history of film music. Lenny Rosenman was experimenting with serialism during his 50s career in the movies, and the brave directors he collaborated with, agreed with the utilization of pioneering musical accompaniment for the two movies. His scores lacked the memorable tunes that dominated the productions of the era, and instead were dissonant, ominous and powerful. No composer at the time - with the exception of a handful of cases - had such an innovative perspective with his music for Golden age Hollywood movies. FSM decided to release the music from COBWEB (1955) and EDGE OF THE CITY (1957), two scores that were released on LP together decades ago, albeit this time with the score for EDGE OF THE CITY expanded. A truly important cd release.
